The Bible does not directly say anything about touching or not touching the breasts of a female partner before marriage. However, there are scriptures that indicate it is not the right thing to do before marriage.
In the book of Song of Solomon, chapter 3, verse 5, the Bible says:
‘I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or by the does of the field, do not stir up nor awaken love until it pleases.’
When you touch your partner’s breasts, without doubt, you will get both of you sexually aroused. If this happens in a space, say a room, where there are only the two of you, the outcome will be sexual intercourse. Sexual sin is strongly condemned in the Bible.
You should never expose yourself to a situation that is likely to lead you to sexual sin. This includes touching or caressing or even kissing your partner before marriage.
Satan will always whisper into your ear that caressing, touching, or kissing your partner is not a big deal, but he knows very well that it will land both of you in sin. When you engage in caressing or kissing, it may seem to be a very innocent thing to do, but in the end, it will always result in regret.
The devil is a very intelligent and cunning being (Genesis 3:1); he always shows up with suggestions that look very innocent at the beginning, but the end result is usually sin and separation from God. Remember how he tricked Eve into eating the fruit from the forbidden tree in the Garden of Eden. What initially looked like a very innocent conversation between two creatures of God ended up in corruption of the whole creation as it is to this day (Genesis 3:1-6).
In the book of 2nd Corinthians 11:14, the Bible teaches that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Meaning that his suggestions to you may pass off as scriptural, but his target is to secure your soul. Remember how he used scriptures to tempt Jesus Christ in the wilderness after he had fasted for forty days and forty nights. Unfortunately for him, Christ is the incorruptible Word of God (John 1:1-4), and he could see through Satan’s tricks (Matthew 4:1-11).
There are brethren out there who teach that caressing, touching, or even kissing your partner before marriage is not a sin because the real act of sex does not take place in these scenarios. They may be right, but what of the sexual arousal or thoughts of sex that come with these ‘innocent’ acts? Jesus Christ taught that whoever looks at a woman and lusts after her in his heart has already committed adultery with her (Matthew 5:27-29). Like it or not, caressing, touching, or kissing your partner will always ignite lust and passion, which, according to scriptures, is one of the enemies of our faith. In 1st John 2:16, the apostle’s instruction to believers is that they should shun the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life in order to please God.
The Bible teaches us to flee sexual immorality. A good example in the Bible is that of Joseph. When the wife of his master (Potiphar) pestered him to have sex with her, he declined outright. However, this did not stop the woman from making sexual advances towards Joseph. The Bible tells us that a day came when only the two of them, that is, Joseph and his master’s wife, were alone in the house. Seeing the opportunity, the woman got hold of Joseph, demanding that he lie with her. Joseph did not hesitate but fled, leaving behind his coat. That is how he escaped the temptation to commit sexual sin (Genesis 39:7-12).
Remember the story of King David and Bathsheba. It all began with a look. Apparently, David did not accompany his army to the battlefield. Instead, he chose to stay at home and have some rest. Then a suggestion crossed his mind, and he walked to the rooftop of the palace. Unfortunately, a woman called Bathsheba was taking a bath at a distance not far from where David was. The beauty of the woman was so striking, so much so that David could not control the urge to have sex with her. David sent for her, and they had sex. The woman became pregnant, and David went to the extent of killing her husband Uriah (one of his best soldiers) in order to cover up his sin. It all began with a ‘look’ (2nd Samuel 11).
Those who engage in sexual immorality will not inherit the kingdom of God. In 1st Corinthians 6:9-10, the Bible lists the following as individuals who will not inherit the kingdom of God: the unrighteous, fornicators, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners.
The Book of Revelation 21:8 tells us the kind of individuals who will earn themselves a ticket into the lake of fire. These include the ‘cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and liars. ‘
Revelation 22:15 gives us a category of individuals who will not be allowed to enter the New Jerusalem. These include sorcerers, the sexually immoral, murderers, idolaters, and those who love and practice a lie.
Therefore, my dear friend, yes, the Bible does not directly say that ‘you should not touch the breasts of your partner before marriage,’ but as we have seen from scriptures, it is not the right thing to do because it may lead to sin.
Remember, the God who has called you is holy, and he desires that you should be holy in all your conduct (1st Peter 1:15).
I hope this is helpful.
God bless you.
