While there is nothing like a perfect marriage on earth, the Bible intimates some of the ingredients that constitute a good marriage. Here are some of them:
1. According to the Bible, a good marriage is one in which the married couple does not deny each other sex.
This is according to 1 Corinthians 7:1–5 (NIV), which says:
“Now for the matters you wrote about: ‘It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.’ But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife and each woman with her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.”
2. According to the Bible, a good marriage is one where the married couple remains faithful and committed to each other.
This is according to Hebrews 13:4 (NKJV), which says:
“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”
Similar sentiments are echoed in Proverbs 5:15–20 (NKJV), which says:
“Drink water from your own cistern and run water from your own well. Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, like streams of water in the streets? Let them be only your own and not for strangers with you. Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth.
As a loving deer and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times, and always be enraptured with her love. Why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman and be embraced in the arms of a seductress?”
3. According to the Bible, a good marriage is one where the husband loves, nourishes, and cherishes his wife.
This is according to Ephesians 5:25–29 (NKJV), which says:
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.”
4. According to the Bible, a good marriage is one where the wife submits to her husband.
This is according to Ephesians 5:22–24 (NKJV), which says:
“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, just as Christ is head of the church, and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.”
Similar sentiments are echoed in 1 Peter 3:1–6 (NKJV), which says:
“Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.
Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—but rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid of any terror.”
5. According to the Bible, a good marriage is one where the wife plays the role of companion and helper to her husband.
The Bible teaches that God created Eve (Adam’s wife) so that she could become Adam’s companion and helper. We read this in Genesis 2:18 and Genesis 2:21–24.
Genesis 2:18 (NKJV) says:
“And the LORD God said, ‘it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.’”
Genesis 2:21–24 (NKJV) says:
And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
And Adam said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken from man.
Therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.’
I hope this is helpful. God bless you.

If you are willing to receive Jesus Christ as your savior, that is, to be born again, kindly say the following prayer from the bottom of your heart:
Prayer to become a born-again Christian
“Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and hereby ask for your forgiveness.
I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that you are the only begotten Son of the living God.
I believe that you were sent by your Father to the earth to save sinners like me.
I now accept you as my personal Lord and Savior.
Come into my heart and baptize me with the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for saving me.
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen!”
Congratulations friend! You are now a born-again Christian!

“The LORD bless you and keep you;
The Lord, make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.”
