- 1 John 1:8–10
- 1 Kings 8:46
- Ecclesiastes 7:20
- Isaiah 53:6
- Isaiah 64:6
- James 3:2
- Job 14:4

- Proverbs 20:9
- Psalm 19:12
- Psalm 130:3
- Psalm 143:2
- Romans 3:23
- Romans 3:9
Let us discuss each one of them to get more insight into the topic.
1. 1 John 1:8–10
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”
In this scripture, the Apostle John teaches that a believer can still sin in spite of being born again. Therefore, he advises believers to lead a life of repentance in order to become justified.
According to the Apostle, anyone who claims he has no sin is fooling himself and is not walking in truth. And the truth is that as long as one remains housed in the present body of sin, sinning is inevitable. However, if this person leads a life of constant repentance, forgiveness from God is guaranteed.
2. 1 Kings 8:46
“When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to the land of the enemy, far or near;”
This is an excerpt from the prayer made by King Solomon while dedicating the newly built temple to God.
This scripture shows that King Solomon was cognizant of the fact that the children of Israel would at one time sin against God and get punished accordingly.
He thus beseeched God to answer the prayer of His people whenever they would confess their sins and repent with a true heart.
3. Ecclesiastes 7:20
“For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin.”
This scripture teaches that no one is sinless under the sun.
4. Isaiah 53:6
“All we, like sheep, have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way, and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
In this scripture, the prophet Isaiah informs the reader that all men have sinned and followed their own ways. However, God has chosen to lay all the sins committed by men upon Jesus Christ. Through this act, men have earned forgiveness for their sins and salvation for their souls.
The only thing God requires from man is confession and repentance of sins committed either knowingly or unknowingly.
5. Isaiah 64:6
“But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousness is like filthy rags; we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
In this scripture, the prophet Isaiah demonstrates to us that our attempts to do righteous acts amount to nothing because man is in a fallen state.
Even after getting born again, man keeps falling short of God’s commandments, no matter how hard he tries.
That is why in every believer there is a constant groaning or yearning for the manifestation of the incorruptible body that will be subject to God’s commandments (1 Corinthians 15:53–54).
6. James 3:1-2
“My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.” For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in words, he is a perfect man, able to also bridle the whole body.”
In this scripture, the Apostle James clearly indicates that all of us, that is, men, stumble in many things. This means that we are all error-prone and, hence, not perfect.
7. Job 14:4
“Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean thing?” No one!”
In this verse, Job is teaching that human beings are unclean or corrupt right from the time of birth, and none can claim to be incorruptible. This is because man is born in a fallen state.
For this reason, our unclean nature cannot bring forth what is clean.
8. Job 15:14–16
“What is man, that he could be pure? And he who is born of a woman, that he could be righteous? If God puts no trust in His saints and the heavens are not pure in His sight, how much less man, who is abominable and filthy, who drinks iniquity like water!”
These words were spoken by Job’s friend, Eliphaz. He was responding to Job’s despondent prayer because of the suffering he was going through at that time.
Here, Eliphaz shows that man cannot be pure or righteous in the eyes of God. This is because man’s ways are abominable and filthy in the eyes of God. Therefore, no man, not even Job, has the right to declare himself righteous before God.
9. Proverbs 20:9
“Who can say, ‘I have made my heart clean; I am pure from sin’?”
According to this scripture, no man can confidently declare that he is pure from sin. This is because the heart of man is desperately wicked, as recorded in Jeremiah 17:9–10, which says:
“The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart; I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.”
10. Psalm 19:12
“Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.”
The writer of this script teaches us that there are many things we do that amount to errors before the eyes of God.
For this reason, the psalmist appeals to God to cleanse him from his secret sins.
11. Psalm 130:3-4
“If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O, LORD, who could stand?” “But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared.”
This psalm teaches that all men are guilty of sin before God. In other words, if God is to judge us for our sin, none of us will be found sinless.
12. Psalm 143:2
“Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no one living is righteous.”
This scripture teaches that, in the sight of God, no mortal man is righteous. Thus, the psalmist appeals to God not to enter into judgment with him because he is 100 percent sure that God will find him guilty.
13. Romans 3:9
“What then? Are we better than them? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.”
This scripture shows that both the people of God, that is, the Jews, and the gentiles alike, are sinners in the eyes of God. This is despite the fact that Jews received the Law from God through the hand of Moses.
This teaches us that having the law in itself is no guarantee against sinning.
14. Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
This could be touted as the most famous Bible verse used to demonstrate that no living man is perfect before the eyes of God.
This scripture emphasizes the importance of relying on faith as the basis for obtaining mercy instead of banking on the works of the law.
Conclusion
This article reviews Bible verses that demonstrate that no one is perfect in this world. We have so far established that all men are guilty of sin because of their fallen nature. The identified scriptures serve as a caution to believers who hold the view that once born-again, one cannot sin. That is a lie that believers should stop entertaining. Instead, every believer should learn to confess their sins and repent accordingly in order to be forgiven and get reconciled to God. I hope this was helpful. God bless you. Shalom.
